Development without peace is unsustainable, while peace without addressing underlying development challenges cannot occur.  That is why a book scheduled for release in spring 2013 calls for expanding the use of peacebuilding tools and approaches into diverse sectors such as development, business, media, and health in order to address the complex conflicts of the twenty-first century.  Integrated Peacebuilding. Innovative Approaches to Transforming Conflict illustrates how the peacebuilding industry, including efforts by civil society, works to end conflict and build peace in some of the world’s most challenging contexts.

Written by Craig Zelizer, an associate director at Georgetown’s Conflict Resolution Program, the book features case studies on humanitarian relief, gender mainstreaming, the environment, religion, and security.  Zelizer has over two decades of experience in peacebuilding practice and research. He is also the founder of the Peace and Collaborative Development Network.
