Ms. Guinane is a public interest attorney who specializes in the rights of nonprofit corporations, particularly in the areas of free speech and the strength and independence of civil society. Her work to bring down barriers to legitimate work of nonprofits from ill-advised national security measures includes research, advocacy, speaking and consulting with NGOs and grantmakers in the U.S. and abroad. Prior to that she was Director of Nonprofit Speech Rights at OMB Watch, a Washington, D.C. based government watchdog organization.
As a public interest lawyer Ms. Guinane has represented a wide variety of nonprofit organizations, both as an advocate on issues and an advisor on tax and nonprofit law.
She is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law and is licensed in the District of Columbia, Kentucky and Maryland.
