Brown bag featuring Cordaid’s Lia van Broekhoven

Join us on May 8 for a brown bag lunch featuring Lia van Broekhoven, Senior Policy Advisor Development and Security, Catholic Organization for Aid and Development (Cordaid), the Netherlands. Lia is a long-time ally of the Charity & Security Network, and a leader in international civil society response to counterproductive counterterrorism measures. Lia will provide background on advocacy at the UN and about what our colleagues around the world are doing to address this problem, and guide a discussion of issues non-profit organizations face.

About Lia:
  • Team leader of group that develops strategies on civic driven responses to security and social change related issues, in particular counter terrorism measures and their impact on the political and operational space of civil society
     
  • Linking women's, peace builders', human rights activists' networks to policy makers
     
  • Advocacy and policy influencing for greater decision-making powers of citizens and civil society on hard and soft security issues (quiet diplomacy, security systems reform, etc)
